Join
us for a double header, where for the price of one river,
you get to paddle on two. We begin our paddle at the
entrance to the Feather River State Wildlife Area and
follow it down to the confluence of the Bear River.
As we let the current gently pull us, we will pass through
an overgrown forest full of wild fowl, herons, egrets
and multitudes of various songbirds. Overhead hawks
and Bald Eagles ride the air currents. Joining them
are flocks of White Pelicans and Canada Geese. Just
before we leave the Feather to paddle on the Bear River
we pass a heron and egret rookery.
From the wide and panoramic Feather River we enter into
a deeply shaded riparian habitat. The narrow width of
the Bear, whose surface is shaded by a leafy roof of
vines and branches, makes for a more intimate paddle.
Beaver and river otters may be spotted either hiding
along the brushy banks or surprised as we paddle around
a bend.
Our paddle ends in the golden glow of the late afternoon
sun as we enjoy our last view of the river from the
high banks that border the shore.
In the fall, these same sights become even more dramatic
with the color changes of the trees, shrubs and vines.
This location is available through our Custom
Outings.
