Bill
Van der Ven, naturalist, guide and author of a paddling
guidebook series on the Sierra Lakes called "Up the
Lake with a Paddle", discovered the joys of exploring
the natural world from a kayak 15 years ago. Since then,
as often as possible, he embraces the freedom to leave behind
the stress of modern life that floating the lakes of the
Sierra allows him. Bill, who believes there is no such thing
as an ugly lake, points to two particular favorites: Pyramid
Lake in Nevada for the stark beauty of the desert and Bowman
Lake for its history and geology. Bill leads Calm Water
EcoTours for Current Adventures.
