Matt is not picky; if it
can be done in a boat, he will do it! Any waterway with enough water
to float a kayak is worth running. His ardor (or is it craze?) lies
deep. At age 33, Matt has paddled many a creek, river and ocean
wave. Among his favorites are the Wentachee River in Washington
because it's got the best play in the West and Cherry Creek in California
because it is the Classic of the classics. Upper Cispus Creek in
Washington and Steamers Lane in Santa Cruz rank high for him as
well. But, when it comes to the most exotic place he has gotten
wet, British Columbia tops his list. When not on the water, he is
usually near it photographing other paddlers on it or writing about
it. Check out the March 2002 issue of Canoe and Kayak Magazine
for his article on surf kayaking.
