Safety/Rescue

SR 1
Unlike safety/rescue courses from many other sources, our classes are specifically formatted to meet the needs of paddlers. River reading considerations, recognition of potential hazards, and skills and equipment necessary for rescues are all unique for individual kayakers and canoeists. Ask other paddlers and they’ll tell you that no one brings more knowledge and experience to teaching this course than Current Adventures. We have offered these classes since we started 13 years ago and are continually adding information and techniques relevant to the changes in the sport. The two-day course includes the ACA Swiftwater Rescue Workshop and card of participation. Class II boating skills are all that are required.

Time: 8:30am – 6:00pm
Dates for 2008: April 26-27, July 19-20, August 16-17, Sept. 20-21

Special 3-Day on Memorial Weekend $250: May 24-26

Follow up with our SR2 Class

Prerequisites	If you have paddled class II water in a kayak, you are ready for (and need!) a Safety/Rescue class! Prerequisite for SR 1 - RK1 or equivalent beginning class II skills. Prerequisite for SR 2 - S/R 1

The Next Step	S/R 2 for more advanced scenarios and techniques. S/R 1 or S/R 2 every two years to keep current and refreshed.
